Blueberry Festival Updates - as of June 5, 2006

An insert in the Sunday, June 4, Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel includes information about the Texas Blueberry Festival. Due to an early press run on that insert, several items have changed or have been corrected.

As usual, there will literally be tons of fresh blueberries available at the festival, held in downtown Nacogdoches on Saturday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These will be sold by the Texas Blueberry Marketing Association for $2 per pint or $20 per 12-pint flat.

Meanwhile, at the Blueberry Place farm’s “Pick and Peek” it will be pick-your-own only on the day of the Festival, June 10. Roger and Sherri Randall are also keeping the farm closed to pickers from now through the festival, to ensure an adequate supply. (The berries have been tested by festival planners and are reported to be “fantastic.”)

The address for the Cuddly Blue Doll & Toy Parade was printed incorrectly as 316 Main St.. The Bavarian Doll house is now at 318 Main St., inside the Main Street Antique Mall.

Several entertainment changes have taken place.
On the Plaza Principal stage, located on the south side of the square, Trailer Trash will perform from 8:40-9:30 a.m., replacing HWY 5. Kasey Lansdale will now perform from 3 – 4 p.m.

On the Fredonia Rotary Stage at Festival plaza, the following acts have been added:
The Rhythm Rockers at 9:15 a.m., the Anderson Family at 11:35 a.m. and the Silva Sisters at 3 p.m.

Stay tuned to the Daily Sentinel and www.texasblueberryfestival.com for updates. Several events have entry forms, and these are posted on that website as well. Also, Suddenlink (formerly Cox Communications) will run a crawl on Cable Channel 14 with weather and festival updates. Suddenlink will also be working with the Chamber to upload video segments throughout the festival on Saturday. Suddenlink will also provide a wireless “hot spot” at the festival for folks with Internet-ready devices.
