The photographs must include azaleas and must have been taken within Nacogdoches County. The contest is sponsored by the Daily Sentinel and judged and exhibited by the Nacogdoches Photography Club.

“For years our residents and visitors have been taking beautiful pictures of the local azaleas, and now they will have a chance to show off their skills and help promote the Nacogdoches Azalea Trail at the same time,” said Ashleigh Endicott, meeting & event coordinator of the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau.

As part of their entries, photographers must also submit a bio of no more than 300 words. Each participant may enter up to three photos, and there is a $5 fee per submission. A $100 cash award will be presented to the first-place winner. The top three photos will be printed in the Daily Sentinel and all entries will be displayed at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main Street from March 24-29.

The 2009 Nacogdoches Azalea Trail will be held March 14-31, featuring driving tours, a floral-design exhibit, a plant sale and even a Little Princess Garden Party.

For a photography contest entry form, including a list of contest rules and submission guidelines, call the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau at 1-888-OLDEST-TOWN or log onto www.nacogdochesazaleas.com. Forms can also be picked up at the CVB located at 200 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.
