Stranded?? Need a ride to Austin for the Legislators Reception??


The SFA Alumni Association is sponsoring a bus to Austin for the Lufkin-Nacogdoches-SFA Day Reception for Legislators.

All passengers will ride comfortably in a bus that has bucket seats, a television and bathroom on board. Plus, riders can bring food and beverages on the bus.

Seats are $40 each and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline is 5:00 p.m., Feb. 12. There are only 36 seats available, so reserve your seat today!!

The bus will leave Wednesday, Feb. 21 from the southeast corner of the SFA commuter Parking Lot (across from Johnson Coliseum) and will return after the reception.

Proposed Itinerary:
8:30 a.m. Depart Southeast corner of SFA Commuter Lot
(across from Johnson Coliseum)

1:30 p.m. Arrive at State Capitol for Legislative briefings

2:30 p.m. Legislative briefings (Rm. TBA; Chamber will
provide room info)

4:45 p.m. Depart Capitol

5:00 p.m. Arrive at Omni Hotel on 700 San Jacinto at 8th
Street

5:30-8:00 p.m. Attend Legislative Reception at Omni Hotel

8:30 p.m. Board bus for return to Nacogdoches

1:30 a.m. Arrive in Nacogdoches

Taco Bueno's ribbon cutting

4th Annual Kid Fish Tournament



The fourth annual Nacogdoches Kid Fish Tournament was held Saturday the 20th. The event took place at the Lake Side Park on Pearl Street. The event creates a chance for kids to learn how to fish with the supervision of volunteers.

Wal-Mart, Brookshire Brothers — Fresh Harvest, General Mills, Sonic, Raising Cane's, University Rental, Mason Fishing Line, Ed Cumings Inc. Net Company and Terry's Marine – Ranger Boats are all helping to sponsor Kid Fish.

Raising Cane's ribbon cutting

Texas Wildfire Protection


The Fourth Friday Luncheon is back at noon on Jan. 26 at the Fredonia. State Forester and Director of the Texas Forest Service James Hull will present "Texas Wildfire Protection Plan: The promise of a safer future for Texans."

Under Hull's leadership, the Texas Forest Service has gained national prominence in wildfire protection and prevention and is now established as a state and national leader in all risk incident management. His vision for the agency is to provide the most accurate, credible and timely data an analysis.

The luncheon serves as the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce's monthly membership meeting. We urge you to attend and stay on top of what is going on at the Chamber and around town. A Visual Alive After Five

Cataract, Glaucoma & Retina Consultants of East Texas hosted an Alive After Five event Thursday, Jan. 18. Shannon L. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S. and her staff opened their office located at 3000 N. University Dr., Ste. A and welcomed many Chamber guests.

Those attending enjoyed delicious refreshments provided by Shelley's Bakery, and some won great door prizes also from Shelley's and The Union Cafe.

The cash prize was not awarded, so all Chamber members will be entered to win $550 at the next scheduled Alive After Five. February's Alive After Five will be hosted by Dr. Amy Huggins in her new office in the Elliott building on Mound St. Mark your calendars: Thursday, Feb. 8, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Operation Thank You breakfast rescheduled for Wed., Jan. 17

Due to the ice storm, the Chamber’s Operation Thank You will begin with a light kick-off breakfast on WEDNESDAY, January 17, 7:15 a.m.

“This one-day delay will help our volunteers plan their day around the weather a bit better,” Chamber chair Jim Elder said. “We’ll give an update on our visits at the Alive After Five on Thursday, and extend the deliveries to Friday at 3 p.m.”
