Organizers of Scare on the Square, an annual Halloween Carnival that brings ghosts, ghouls, and tons of fun to the historic brick streets of downtown Nacogdoches, are already planning this year’s event. The event is set for October 25th this year and expects a crowd of more than 8,000 attendees.
Main Street is currently seeking Halloween or haunted props that can be added to enhance the crowd favorite haunted house. If you or someone you know would like to donate new or barely used items to Scare on the Square please contact Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien at 936-559-2573 or send her an email at obriens@ci.nacogdoches.tx.us .
The Nacogdoches Main Street Program, who is always on the look out for volunteers, annually presents Scare on the Square. To get involved in the planning process or to volunteer for Scare on the Square or any of Main Street’s other events call Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien at 936-559-2573 or send her an email at obriens@ci.nacogdoches.tx.us

Hello from another Mainstreet City: Levelland, TX. I am on our Mainstreet Advisory Board and today our promotions committee met to discuss plans for this year's Scare on the Square. We feel there are better ways to utilize this event as a win/win for merchants and trick-or-treaters alike and we're seeking ideas. How has your event helped to generate more business for local mainstreet merchants? We'd love to have you share some thoughts or ideas that have worked well for ya'll. OKG I am so frustrated. While researching this morning for the upcoming Scare on the Square event in Nacogdoches so I could take my "almost" one year old son to for the first time ... I just read that the function was on 10/25!!! Why? Surely this information is incorrect and the event is scheduled for 10/31 on Halloween which is on a Saturday. Why would the city have this event scheduled a week early and on a Sunday. Surely this is a type-o.
Hi TGsMom,
I couldn't find any other way to contact you, so I'm trying this on our blog.
I think you must have done a Google Search for Scare on the Square and ended up on this particular posting.
Which is accurate - for 2008.
Scare on the Square 2009 is indeed on October 31.
Here's a link to some info on that:
