Beautiful day, Union Cafe, SFA

The SFA Friends of Theatre's upcoming fund-raiser, "The Whole Nine Yards," may sound like a football event for men, but it's actually a beauty, dinner and theatre package designed for women. The fund-raiser, which will benefit a scholarship fund for theatre majors at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be conducted on Friday, July 11.

"The luxurious treat will consist of a makeover from a Belk's beauty specialist, champagne, hors d'oeuvres, music and free cosmetics, as well as a dinner for two at Union Café and two tickets to any production included in the SFA School of Theatre's Summer Repertory season," said Phillip Anderson, manager of the Belk Department Store of Nacogdoches, one of the event's sponsors.

"We will also have on hand a representative from the Aesthetic Laser Center & Medspa of Nacogdoches, and we'll be providing free hand and chair massages," Anderson continued.

The beauty portion of "The Whole Nine Yards" will take place from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. As women purchase the packages, they will sign up for a specific time for their appointment. The dinner for two at Union Café that same evening will be from a special menu created for the event. Beverages are not included in the package.

Participants will receive a voucher for two tickets to any production of the SFA summer theatre season. Beth Henley's "Crimes of the Heart" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12.

"We are grateful to Belk, Union Café and Aesthetic Laser Center & Medspa of Nacogdoches for their generosity in making this fund-raiser possible," said Scott Shattuck, director of the SFA School of Theatre. "The proceeds will help establish an endowed scholarship that will be given annually to an SFA theatre major in need of financial assistance."

Tickets for "The Whole Nine Yards" are $100 each and must be purchased in advance. Please call (936) 715-9390, ext. 266, 267 or 269 for tickets or more information.
